Kidd, Esq., to sell by auction, on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, Nov. 11, 12 & 13, 1903, at the Corn Exchange, Thurnald Street, Nottingham (where they have been removed for convenience of sale from the residence, Mount Vernon, Nottingham), the valuable collection of English porcelain & pottery selected with great care and embracing fine specimens of old Chelsea, Bow, Chelsea-Derby, Crow Derby, Worcester, Bristol, Rockingham, Swansea, Pinxton, Coalbrookdale, Nantgarw, Wedgwood, Lowestoft, Oriental, Nottingham stoneware, and Staffordshire, part of which collection has been on exhibition at the Nottingham Castle Museum from its opening to the present time : a choice collection of oil paintings & water-colour drawings, by the following artists : Clarkson Stanfield, R.A., J. S. Cotman, A. Elmore, R.A., Wm. Kidd, H. Dawson, J. F. Herring, Geo. Armfied, Geo. Cole, W. Bromley, J. Syer, W. Hunt, J. Mogford, D. Cox, G. J. Knox, P. H. Pavy, David Bates, and others : upwards of 400 ounces of silver, chiefly antique : art objects and curios, Byron relics (including the collars of Lord Byron's favourite dogs "Boatswain" and "Thunder"), a fine miniature of Mary Chaworth, and a chased and repoussé Watch, formerly belonging to the same lady : a library of 600 volumes of books, embracing many first and early editions of Dickens, Thackeray, Byron, Tennyson, Harrison Ainsworth, Lever, Lover, and others : sporting novels, life of Mytton, etc., illustrated by Alken, Rowlandson, The Cruikshanks, Leech, Crowquill, Onwhyn, Keene, Randolph Caldecott, and many works of local interest : the antique furniture includes two large old oak cabinets with fine old carved panels, Chippendale and early 18th century chairs, Sheraton tables, rare and early mahogany card table with rising tray, Tallboy chest of mahogany drawers, antique iron chest, carved oak chests and other rare pieces.
